AC100 retarder for Jesmonite® creations
The retarder is an additive designed to slow the setting of Jesmonite® and so extend the working time available before curing. Compatible only with Jesmonite® AC100, it offers greater flexibility and better control during application.
It allows careful handling without premature curing, giving you enough time to achieve fine finishes and complex patterns. It is particularly useful when creating :
- Large pieces
- Complex moulds with lots of detail
- Marbled or terrazzo effects that need more handling time
- Multiple pours
- Work in hot weather, when Jesmonite® sets more quickly
Without retarder, Jesmonite® AC100 generally offers a working time of about 8 to 15 minutes. With the AC100 retarder, this time can be extended to 25 to 30 minutes, or even more depending on temperature and the dosage used. The essential tool to move from a „decent“ result to a professional finish.
Dosage and use
Dosage: 2 to 8 g per kg of mix. We recommend starting at 2 g per kg of mix, then increasing gradually according to your needs and your workshop temperature.
How to use:
- Weigh out the quantity of AC100 liquid.
- Add the retarder to the AC100 liquid.
- Stir for a few seconds to blend.
- Then add the AC100 powder.
Precautions
Overdosing can slow the setting excessively and increase demoulding time. Excessive amounts can also affect the final strength of your piece.
Always carry out a preliminary test: humidity, temperature and mix volume strongly influence the result.
This product has not undergone food-safety testing.
