Jesmonite® AC100 DUOSET
Jesmonite® AC100 is supplied as two components: a water-based acrylic resin liquid and a gypsum-based mineral powder. The flagship of the range, AC100 is especially popular for indoor applications (candle holders, interior décor…), but is also suitable for outdoor use — in which case applying an acrylic sealing varnish is recommended to preserve the appearance of the surface.
Its strengths:
- Easy to use — the most user-friendly and popular product in the Jesmonite® range
- Customisable — can be coloured with pigments and combined with various elements for different effects and textures
- Versatile — smooth or highly detailed finish
- Safe and eco-friendly — water-based and environmentally friendly
- Durable — once cured: fire-resistant, lightweight and impact-resistant, with no harmful chemicals
Suitable for candle making
Creations made with this material can be used as candle vessels. However, as it is naturally porous, it is essential to apply a suitable protective treatment, such as Jesmonite acrylic varnish, before any use.
We recommend letting your creation dry for at least 48 hours before pouring the wax, to ensure optimal heat resistance.
Before any sale, every vessel intended to hold a candle must undergo burn tests to validate its safety and suitability for the intended use.
This product has not been tested for use in contact with foodstuffs.
Formats and dosage
Several formats available: 500 ml liquid + 1.25 kg base, 1 L liquid + 2.5 kg base, 5 L liquid + 12.5 kg base or 7 L liquid + 17.5 kg base.
Ratio: 2.5 to 1 (2.5 parts base to 1 part liquid). A Jesmonite calculator is available to make your measurements easier.
Usage tips
- Sifting the powder before mixing removes lumps and gives a smoother texture.
- To avoid air bubbles, place your mould on a vibrating plate so they can escape.
- Prepare 5 to 10% more than the theoretical calculation to compensate for losses.
- You can add up to 2% of the total weight (base + liquid) in Jesmonite® pigment.
- Work in warm, dry conditions away from direct sunlight; avoid places where solvent-based products are frequently used.
- Make sure the mixing containers are clean, dry and an appropriate size.
